The local Westcott Fire Works display was held after
bonfire night so that it did not clash with other larger local displays. We
like this one better for several reasons, it is closer (walking distance), it
is friendlier (not so crowded), the display is great for the minimal entrance
fee and they have a bar on the club house. We invited friends around to meet at
ours where we had a couple of winter warmers (the mulled wine was nicely spiced
up with some plum gin this year) and a few nibbles (sausages the food of
choice), then we walked on mass to the sports ground, ooh and ahh’d at the
fireworks, wandered back and re-warmed with a bowl of Sue’s butternut and sage
soup dipped up with homemade sourdough bread and then followed with various
cakes and cheeses all washed down with a choice of beverages.
