Having a laugh...

We have recently seen a couple of comedians live on stage, one from the old school and the other from the latest wave of comics.

First we saw Barry Cryer’s – Still Alive show at the Yvonne Arnaud theatre.

We have seen Barry Cryer before at the Wimbledon Theatre with the late great Willie Rushton in a show called Two old Farts in the Night. He was very good, though many of the jokes were quite old and familiar he still managed to deliver them so well that you still laughed. He was an absolute pro and I couldn’t believe just how many gags he could remember and deliver in just one show. I understand that he is trying out this show before he takes it to the Edinburgh Fringe.

The second artist was Jason Manford playing at the Fairfield Halls. This gig we went to with the family rather than just the two of us. It was also a good laugh, though Jason tends to ramble on using stories and observational humour rather than gags.

Both were good nights out.
