A Critical Mass of Geeks…

Some of our regular weekly games get together on an infrequent basis to play games face to face. Recently this was held at our place and was extended to a couple of players living further afield (Wales and Birmingham) it was still a bit too far for Scott to travel from Canada to attend, though we did threaten to Skype him and place a computer at the end of the table. James too had other commitments with the imminent arrival of his second child. Tony, Rhys, Kevin and Martin came over and we played several games including:

• Red Dragon Inn
• Cards Against Humanity
• Space Alert
• Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards
• Perudo
• Tokiado

Tony and Martin come over Friday evening and we played unto the wee small hours, starting again at 9ish when Rhys and Kevin joined us and didn’t stop until 7 that evening. Tony also ran a short one off RPG session that he was play testing for a convention coming up.

Being Neighbourly…

Recently we had dinner with the neighbours. Geoff and Jen hosted with Howard and Tracy, Pete and Sue joining us. It was a convivial evening with a lovely meal provided by the hostess and fun conversation by the host

Big Send Off…

Straubenzee played at our favourite local, Bertram Bee’s, for one of the owner’s daughters - Rosie as she travels off to Australia for a while. We will miss her smiley, happy face and good humour.

Serious War Games…

When Marc was last over I went with him to Salute, a table top miniatures war game convention hosted by the South London Warlords gaming club at the ExCel centre. We met plenty of his old ex games-workshop colleagues and an old friend of ours from New Zealand, Nick Hughes who I went to school with in Howick. There were some fabulous games and models on show including some impressive competition entries.

Later a few of us got together and had a meal at GBK and then evening drinks in town. I stayed with Marc at the Goodenough College where Marc & Heather lived for a while. Sue came into town the next day and she and I went to see the map display at the British Library and the Viking exhibition at the BritishMuseum (it was not as good as what we have seen elsewhere, but then we have been spoilt with visiting Sweden and Iceland).

Surprise Birthday…

We went along as guests for Jill’s 80^th surprise birthday at the Chipstead, Coulsdon and Walcountians Cricket Club. There were a large number of people there and it was a real surprise to Jill who enjoyed herself catching up with friends and family.
